Destinations Dictionary
The Destinations Dictionary in Propamp.ai allows you to manage all locations where your products may be shipped or stored. This comprehensive guide explains how to effectively use this module to organize your fulfillment network and streamline your logistics operations.
Understanding the Destinations Interface
The Destinations Dictionary features a card-based interface that provides a visual overview of all your shipping and storage locations:
Key Interface Elements:
- Search and Filter Bar: Located at the top of the page for finding specific destinations
- Add Destination Button: Creates new destination entries
- Destination Onboarding Button: Provides access to bulk import/export functionality
- Destinations Card Grid: Displays all your destinations in an easy-to-browse format
Destination Card Information:
Each card in the grid displays key information about the destination:
- Display Name: The user-friendly name you’ve assigned
- System Name: The unique identifier used by the system
- Destination Type: Category of the destination (Amazon Fulfillment, Amazon Warehouse, Own Warehouse)
- Description: Brief details about the destination’s purpose or location
- Action Buttons: Edit and Delete options for managing the destination
Finding Specific Destinations
As your destination list grows, you can use the search and filter tools to quickly find what you need:
Search Function:
- Click in the search box at the top of the page
- Type any part of the destination name or description
- Results will update in real-time as you type
- The search is case-insensitive and looks for partial matches
Type Filtering:
- Click the destination type dropdown next to the search box
- Select from one of the available types:
- All Types (default)
- Amazon Fulfillment
- Amazon Warehouse
- Own Warehouse
- The card grid will instantly filter to show only destinations of the selected type
Tip: You can combine search and filtering to narrow down results even further. For example, search for “east” while filtering for “Amazon Fulfillment” to find all Amazon fulfillment centers in eastern locations.
Creating a New Destination
To add a new shipping or storage location to your dictionary:
- Click the “Add Destination” button at the top of the page
- A modal form will appear with the following fields:
- Name: Create a unique system identifier (e.g., “amazon_fc_example”)
- Display Name: Enter a human-readable name (e.g., “Amazon FC Example”)
- Description: Provide details about the destination’s purpose or location
- Destination Type: Select from the dropdown (Amazon Fulfillment, Amazon Warehouse, Own Warehouse)
- Fill in all required fields (marked with an asterisk *)
- Click “Save” to create the destination
- The new destination will appear in your card grid
Destination Naming Best Practices:
- System Name: Use lowercase with underscores for spaces (e.g., “amazon_fc_texas”)
- Display Name: Use a clear, descriptive name that’s easily recognizable (e.g., “Amazon FC - Texas”)
- Description: Include useful information like full address, contact details, or special handling requirements
Editing an Existing Destination
To modify a destination’s details:
- Find the destination card you want to edit
- Click the edit icon (pencil) in the top-right corner of the card
- A modal will open with the destination’s current information pre-filled
- Make your desired changes to any field
- Click “Save” to update the destination
- The card will refresh to display the updated information
Note: The system name should generally remain consistent once established, as it may be referenced in various records throughout the system.
Deleting a Destination
To remove a destination from your dictionary:
- Locate the destination card you want to delete
- Click the delete icon (trash can) in the top-right corner of the card
- A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the deletion
- Click “Confirm” to permanently remove the destination or “Cancel” to keep it
Warning: Deleting a destination cannot be undone. If the destination is referenced in existing purchase orders or shipment records, you may want to consider keeping it for historical accuracy.

Tip: Use the template feature when setting up your initial destinations or when adding multiple new locations at once, such as when expanding to a new marketplace or region.
Using Destinations in Purchase Orders
Destinations in your dictionary serve a critical role when creating purchase orders:
- When you create a new purchase order, you’ll be prompted to select a destination
- Only destinations in your dictionary will appear as options
- The selected destination determines:
- Shipping address and requirements
- Potential fulfillment restrictions
- Documentation needs for customs or compliance
- Transportation planning and logistics
Important: Keep your destinations dictionary up-to-date with current addresses and requirements to ensure accurate purchase orders and successful deliveries.
Understanding Destination Types
Propamp.ai classifies destinations into three main categories:
1. Amazon Fulfillment
These are Amazon’s fulfillment centers where inventory is stored for FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) sellers:
- Used when sending inventory directly to Amazon for fulfillment
- Subject to Amazon’s specific receiving requirements and guidelines
- May have specific packaging, labeling, and appointment requirements
2. Amazon Warehouse
These represent Amazon’s temporary storage or processing facilities:
- Often used for initial receiving before transfer to fulfillment centers
- May have different requirements than fulfillment centers
- Typically used for specific programs or during high-volume periods
3. Own Warehouse
These are storage facilities that you own or lease:
- Used for self-fulfilled orders or inventory staging
- May serve as consolidation points before sending to marketplaces
- Offer more flexibility in receiving processes
- Can be used for quality control checks before marketplace submission
Best Practices for Destination Management
To maximize the effectiveness of your Destinations Dictionary:
-
Use Descriptive Names: Create clear, recognizable names that help team members quickly identify locations.
-
Include Complete Information: Add comprehensive details in the description field, including:
- Full address with postal code
- Contact person and phone number
- Operating hours
- Special requirements or restrictions
-
Maintain Regular Updates: Review and update destination information quarterly or whenever there are changes to addresses, requirements, or procedures.
-
Standardize Naming Conventions: Develop a consistent naming pattern for system names to make them predictable and organized.
-
Document Special Instructions: Use the description field to note any special handling requirements, such as:
- Appointment scheduling requirements
- Specific documentation needs
- Packaging or palletizing instructions
- Delivery time restrictions
-
Archive Instead of Delete: Rather than deleting outdated destinations, consider adding “(Archived)” to the name if you need to keep historical records.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Empty Destinations List
If your Destinations page shows no entries:
- You may need to create your first destination
- Check if search filters are active and clearing them
- Refresh the page to ensure data is loaded
Template Upload Errors
If you encounter issues when uploading your template:
- Verify that all required fields are completed
- Ensure destination types match the allowed values exactly
- Check for duplicate system names (these must be unique)
- Make sure the file format hasn’t been changed (.xlsx or .xlsm)
