Product Dictionary
The Product Dictionary is a central place in Propamp.ai where you can review, organize, and fine‑tune how your products appear and behave across dashboards, reports, and analytics. This guide explains each area of the Products dictionary and how to use it effectively.
Accessing the Product Dictionary
To open the Product Dictionary for products:
- Sign in to your Propamp.ai account.
- Use the main navigation to go to Dictionaries.
- Select the Products section.
You will see the Products page with a marketplace selector, a “Products Onboarding” button, and the main product table.
Understanding the Product Table
When you open the Products dictionary, you will see a table listing your products:

Each row represents a single product and includes:
- Product Image: A thumbnail image of the product (when available).
- Product Info:
- Full product name from Amazon.
- ASIN: Clickable link that opens the product on Amazon in a new tab.
- SKU: The stock keeping unit used in your system.
- Display Name: A shorter name that you control and that is used across Propamp.ai.
- Share: A share icon that opens a detailed product summary you can copy and send to others.
- Available: A checkbox showing whether the product is currently included in analytics.
- Edit: A button that opens a detailed product panel with additional tabs (for example, replenishment, economics, and dimensions).
These columns give you both a quick overview and deep control over how each product is treated in the platform.
Customizing Product Display Names
Propamp.ai lets you set a custom Display Name for each product. This shorter label is used in dashboards, reports, and many analytics screens, making it easier to recognize products at a glance.
How to Edit a Product Display Name
- Find the product in the table.
- In the Product Info area, look for the Display Name badge.
- If a display name already exists, it is shown in neutral text.
- If there is no display name yet, you will see a “No display name” message in red.
- Hover over the display name badge to reveal a small pencil icon.
- Click the pencil icon to open the Edit Display Name dialog.
- Type your preferred short name in the input field.
- Click the save button (checkmark) to apply the change.
Your new display name is saved immediately and will appear throughout the platform wherever that product is referenced.

Tip: Use short, descriptive names that match how you think about the product. For example, “Blue Hoodie – S” instead of the full marketplace title. This makes filtering and reading dashboards much easier.
Controlling Product Visibility in Analytics
The Product Dictionary lets you decide which products should be included in your analytics and which should remain excluded but still visible in the dictionary.
Using the Availability Filter (Available vs. Unavailable)
At the top-right of the table, you will find a selector labeled similar to “Showing: Available products”. You can use it to switch between:
- Available: Shows products that are currently included in analytics.
- Unavailable: Shows products that are currently excluded from analytics (for example, old, inactive, or paused products).
To adjust the view:
- Click the Showing dropdown.
- Choose Available or Unavailable.
- The table will reload to show only products that match the selected status.
This is especially useful when you want to review inactive or historical products separately from your live catalog.
Selecting Products for Analytics (Per‑Product “Available” Checkbox)
Each product row has an Available checkbox:
- Locate the Available column in the table.
- For any product you want to include in analytics:
- Make sure the checkbox is checked.
- For products you want to exclude from dashboards and analytics:
- Uncheck the checkbox.
What this means:
- Checked (Available):
The product is included in dashboards, reports, and analytics throughout Propamp.ai. - Unchecked (Unavailable):
The product is excluded from analytics but stays in your dictionary for reference and potential future reactivation.
Note: Changes to the availability checkbox are saved automatically. There is no separate “Save” button for this action.

Grouping Products and Custom Ordering
A powerful feature of the Products dictionary is the ability to group products by parent ASIN and then reorder both groups and individual products. This order is remembered and used throughout the platform in many views.
Enabling Grouping and Reordering Mode
On the right side above the table, you will see a control labeled similar to:
- “Enable Grouping & Reordering” (when grouping is off), or
- “Grouped by Parent ASIN” (when grouping is on).
Next to this text is a toggle switch.
To enable grouping:
- Make sure the availability selector is set to Available (grouping is only supported for available products).
- In the grouping control, turn the switch ON.
- The table will refresh into grouping mode.
When grouping mode is on, a banner appears explaining that drag-and-drop is enabled for reordering.
Understanding Parent Groups and Child Products
In grouping mode, products are organized into parent groups:
- Parent group: Usually represents a main product family or parent ASIN.
- Child products: Variants such as size, color, or other variations shown beneath the parent.
You will see:
- A parent header card showing:
- A title (often the parent’s display name or ASIN).
- The parent ASIN.
- A badge showing how many products belong to this group.
- Under the header, the child products are listed, each with:
- Image, display name, ASIN, and SKU.
This layout makes it easy to treat related products as a single block while still controlling the order within that block.
Reordering Parent Groups
To change the order in which whole product families appear:
- Ensure grouping mode is turned ON.
- Move your mouse over the left side of a parent group header until you see the drag handle icon.
- Click and hold the drag handle.
- Drag the entire group up or down to a new position.
- Release the mouse to drop it in place.
Propamp.ai saves this new order, and it will be reflected wherever product groups are shown in grouped views.
Reordering Products Within a Parent Group
To change the order of child products within a particular group:
- With grouping mode still ON, locate the group whose internal order you want to change.
- Hover over the left side of a child product row to reveal its drag handle.
- Click and hold the drag handle.
- Drag the product up or down within the same parent group.
- Release to drop it into the new position.
The updated order is saved and will be used in grouped product lists and related analytics views.
How Custom Ordering Affects the Platform
Your custom grouping and ordering is used across Propamp.ai to provide a consistent experience:
- Financial and inventory reports: Products and product families appear in your custom sequence.
- Dashboards: Widgets that list products will respect your saved order where grouping is applied.
- Analytics and exports: Grouped or ordered product views use your preferences, making reports easier to scan.
Note: Custom ordering changes the presentation order only. It does not change underlying calculations or how metrics are computed. Profitability, sales, and other metrics remain the same.
Searching and Filtering Products
For accounts with many SKUs, quick search and filtering are essential.
Using the Search Box
At the top left of the table, you will see a search field with a magnifying glass icon.
To search:
- Click inside the Search products… field.
- Type part of the product name, ASIN, or SKU.
- The list will refresh to show matching products.
A few important notes:
- The search field is disabled while grouping mode is ON. If you want to search, first turn grouping mode OFF, then use the search field.
- When you clear the search text, the full list (for the current availability filter) will appear again.
Filtering by Availability
As described above, the availability selector lets you view either Available or Unavailable products:
- Use the Showing: … products dropdown.
- Choose the status you want to review.
- Combine this filter with search to quickly find exactly the products you need.
Working with Large Catalogs (Infinite Scrolling and “Load More”)
If you have many products, the table uses infinite scrolling:
- As you scroll toward the bottom, more products load automatically.
- A small section appears at the bottom when more products are available:
- While loading, it shows a spinner and “Loading more products…”.
- You may also see a “Load More” button that you can click to manually load the next batch.
- When all products are loaded, a message confirms that there are no more products to load.
This prevents the page from becoming too heavy while still allowing you to browse your full catalog.
Sharing Product Details
The Share column lets you quickly generate a well‑formatted product summary you can copy to your clipboard and share with suppliers, partners, or team members.
To share a product:
- In the product row, click the share icon in the Share column.
- A Share Product Details window will open.
- Inside this window, you can review:
- Product image and names (display name and full name).
- Price, ASIN, SKU, and availability status.
- Package dimensions and weight in both metric and imperial units (for example, centimeters and inches, kilograms and pounds).
- Calculated volume in cubic meters and cubic feet (CBM and CBF).
- Lead times (supplier, delivery, and total).
- Click the Copy Details to Clipboard button.
- Paste the copied summary into an email, chat, or document.
A confirmation message lets you know when the details have been copied successfully.
Bulk Onboarding and Updates via Excel
The Products Onboarding feature allows you to bulk review and update product information, especially display names and lead times, using an Excel template.
You can access it from the header:
- The Products Onboarding button is located next to the marketplace selector at the top of the page.
Downloading the Products Excel Template
To download the template:
- At the top of the Products page, click the Products Onboarding button.
- In the onboarding window, choose the option to download the template.
- Propamp.ai will prepare a file named similar to:
products-[marketplace]-[YYYY-MM-DD].xlsx. - Save the file to your computer.
Inside the workbook, you will see a sheet named “Products” with columns including:
- ID (Internal – Leave Empty for New): An internal identifier.
- For existing products, this field is filled in and should be left unchanged.
- For new products, leave it empty and follow future onboarding instructions from Propamp.ai.
- Name: Original product name (read‑only; do not change).
- ASIN: Product ASIN (read‑only; do not change).
- Display Name: Your custom, user‑friendly product name.
- Your Lead Time: Time (in days) from when you begin your process until the product is ready to ship.
- Supplier Lead Time: Time (in days) your supplier needs to prepare the product.
- Available: Whether the product should be included in analytics (
TRUEorFALSE).
The template is structured so that:
- Internal ID, Name, and ASIN are visually highlighted as non‑editable.
- Display Name, Your Lead Time, Supplier Lead Time, and Available are intended for editing.
Editing the Template
When filling out the template:
- Display Name:
- Enter a short, clear name you want to see in Propamp.ai.
- Your Lead Time and Supplier Lead Time:
- Enter whole numbers (days) greater than or equal to 0.
- Fractions and negative numbers are not allowed.
- Available:
- Use either
TRUEorFALSE. TRUEmeans the product will be available in analytics.FALSEmeans it will be excluded from analytics.
- Use either
The template includes basic validation to help you enter data in the correct format. If you enter invalid values, Excel may show a message asking you to correct them.
Uploading the Completed Template
Once you have updated the file:
- Return to the Products page in Propamp.ai.
- Click the Products Onboarding button again.
- Use the upload option in the onboarding window and select your edited Excel file.
- Propamp.ai will read the Products sheet and process:
- Internal ID
- Name
- ASIN
- Display Name
- Your Lead Time
- Supplier Lead Time
- Available status
If the structure or headings of the file do not match the expected template, you will see an error message explaining which columns are missing or invalid. When the file is valid, Propamp.ai will confirm how many products were successfully processed.
Tip: Always start from a fresh template downloaded from Propamp.ai. This reduces the chance of missing columns or formatting issues when you upload your changes.
Best Practices for Managing the Product Dictionary
To get the most value from the Product Dictionary:
-
Keep Visibility Accurate
Regularly review the Available status so that dashboards and reports reflect only the products you truly care about. -
Use Clear and Consistent Display Names
Choose display names that match how your team talks about products. Keep patterns consistent (for example, “Brand – Model – Size”). -
Leverage Grouping for Families and Variants
Use Group by Parent ASIN to keep related variants together. This makes analysis easier and keeps variants visually organized. -
Review Lead Times Regularly
When supplier performance or your internal processes change, update Your Lead Time and Supplier Lead Time via onboarding templates so replenishment and planning stay accurate. -
Perform Periodic Audits
Every few weeks or months, filter to Unavailable products to decide whether any items should be reactivated or fully retired from your analytics.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
1. Products Not Appearing in the Dictionary
If you expect to see products but they are missing:
- Confirm that your Amazon integration is active and authorized in your account settings.
- Check the availability filter:
- Switch between Available and Unavailable to make sure you are not hiding products by mistake.
- If you still do not see the products, try refreshing the page or signing out and back in.
2. Cannot Search While Grouping Is Enabled
If the search field is disabled or grayed out:
- Check whether grouping mode (“Grouped by Parent ASIN”) is turned ON.
- Turn grouping OFF to re‑enable free text search.
- After searching and finding the products you need, you can turn grouping back ON if desired.
3. Problems with Drag and Drop Ordering
If drag and drop does not work as expected:
- Confirm that:
- The availability selector is set to Available, and
- Grouping mode is turned ON.
- Try dragging from the drag handle icon on the left side of the row, not from the center of the row.
- If items “snap back” into place, there may be a temporary connection issue—refresh the page and try again.
- If using an older browser, test in a modern browser such as Chrome or Edge.
4. Excel File Upload Errors
If you receive an error after uploading a products template:
- Make sure you started from a fresh template downloaded from Propamp.ai.
- Confirm that:
- The sheet is still named “Products”.
- Required columns (such as ID, ASIN, Display Name, Your Lead Time, Supplier Lead Time, and Available) are present and not renamed.
- Check that:
- Lead times are whole numbers (
0,1,2, …). - The Available column uses
TRUEorFALSEonly.
- Lead times are whole numbers (
- If the error persists, try downloading a new template and re‑entering only a small test set of products to isolate the issue.
5. Products Not Updating After Changes
If you change availability, display names, or upload a template but do not see the new values:
- Wait a few moments and then refresh the page.
- If you changed filters (for example, from Available to Unavailable), confirm that the selector still matches the products whose status you changed.
- If you made changes through the Excel template, verify that the upload showed a success message and not an error.
- If issues continue, contact Propamp.ai support with details of the products and the actions you took.
